Acupuncture sounds a little bit crazy when you first hear about it, but there’s a reason it’s one of the oldest medical treatments still practiced today! From its origins in China thousands of years ago to its practice today, acupuncture has brought countless people relief from debilitating symptoms, while also boosting their quality of life.
At Florida Wellness Medical Center in Trinity, we offer acupuncture services by fully trained and qualified staff in a sanitary environment. If you’re still unsure about acupuncture and its potential benefits, we provide all of the information that you need below to learn more about this ancient medical practice.
What is Acupuncture?
In an acupuncture session, the therapist will insert tiny needles into areas known as acupoints. There are over 250 acupoints in the human body, and each acupoint corresponds to a specific body part or function. By piercing these acupoints, blockages that impede the flow of energy are cleared and energy is allowed to flow freely around the person’s body again.
What Should I Expect During an Acupuncture Session?
Acupuncture is quick, easy, and virtually painless. Many patients report not even feeling the acupuncture needles, while others report mild discomfort. Each acupuncture session only lasts 20-30 minutes, depending on the conditions being treated. Acupuncture is done right in our office using the best sanitation practices.
What Conditions Can Acupuncture Help?
Acupuncture can improve a variety of medical conditions, including:
- Gastrointestinal and digestive problems
- Respiratory conditions
- Gynecological problems
- Emotional disorders
- Neurological problems
- Fatigue
- Degenerative diseases
- Substance rehabilitation
- Smoking cessation
- Weight loss
Only a trained acupuncture therapist can determine exactly which acupoints need to be treated for optimal symptom relief.

Is Acupuncture Worth the Money?
Acupuncture is one of the best preventative medical care methods available. With thousands of years of anecdotal research along with decades of scientific backing, the results speak for themselves. Routine acupuncture sessions encourage cellular renewal, help heal injuries, and promote good health overall.
If the up-front cost of acupuncture still feels like a barrier, consider the cost of treating a condition that acupuncture helps prevent, such as generalized fatigue. Since fatigue is a symptom of so many different conditions, without other symptoms presenting, it can be almost impossible to pin down the exact cause. Finding the cause will require frequent medical visits, extensive diagnostic testing, and possibly even specialty care or hospital stays. Add all of that up, and the cost of acupuncture suddenly doesn’t seem like too much.
Does Insurance Pay for Acupuncture?
Many insurance companies are starting to offer acupuncture coverage as part of their standard lineup of preventative measures since its health-boosting benefits can no longer be denied. Contact your health insurance company to find out exactly what your plan covers.
If your insurance doesn’t cover acupuncture, or if you don’t have insurance, consider our monthly acupuncture subscription program or purchasing a package of acupuncture visits for a discounted rate!
